Our latest issue of Captivating Photography Journal is here, exploring curiosity, adventure and the many ways photography can encourage us to look at the world differently.
From mountains and wildlife to distant destinations and the abstract patterns created by water, Issue 21 celebrates photographers who follow their curiosity, experiment with perspective and find inspiration in both extraordinary places and everyday details.
What’s inside:
- Dutch fine-art nature photographer Alex Pansier shares his journey into photography, the process of developing his own visual voice and how he balances the experience of being in nature with the creative possibilities of post-processing.
- Austrian photographer and molecular biologist Lukas Trixl takes us into the world of landscapes and wildlife, reflecting on memorable encounters, changing light and the challenge of finding fresh perspectives in familiar and frequently photographed places.
- German visual artist Marcel van Beek introduces his fascinating series Water as a Scriptor, where condensation, reflections, ripples, bubbles and ice become part of the image-making process, blurring the boundaries between photography and abstraction.
- Australian photographer Bailey Reinke shares how photography and travel have become inseparable, from remote Pacific islands and the Central Asian steppe to the deserts of Oman, and how carrying a camera encourages curiosity, patience and a closer look at the world.
- Peter Laurenson takes us into the Southern Alps and up to Temple Basin near Arthur’s Pass, where an hour’s climb reveals dramatic views towards Mt Rolleston and plenty of photographic rewards.
- We also showcase some of our favourite photographs from recent weekly challenges. These challenges are a simple but powerful way to practise the photographic eye, experiment with new ideas and discover how differently other photographers interpret the same theme. And despite the year drawing to a close, we still have 10 themes to go, so there’s plenty of time to join us in the Hub!
