Issue 19 of Captivating Photography Journal is here!

Explore what we have in this issue!

Our latest issue of Captivating Photography Journal is here, and it is filled with photographers who see the world a little differently.

From the hidden details of flowers and plants to painterly landscapes, remote mountain ridges, and city streets after dark, Issue 19 explores the many ways photography can help us slow down, look closer, and discover something new.

What’s inside:

• Finnish photographer Taru Rantala shares her beautiful dreamlike macro photography, revealing the hidden beauty and mystery found in the smallest corners of nature.

• Swedish photographer Erik Malm discusses his unique approach to photography, blending his background as a symphonic musician with abstract and expressive imagery that he describes as "making music with images".

• Peter Laurenson takes us into the rugged alpine landscapes of Kahurangi National Park on a journey to Mt Lockett. Complete with remote lakes, spectacular scenery, unexpected challenges, and a reminder that some photographic locations really are worth sweating for.

• We join the Wellington Photo Explorers as they venture into the world of night photography. What began as a simple experiment quickly became an addictive challenge, resulting in a diverse collection of photographs ranging from quiet and mysterious scenes to creative long exposures and camera movement techniques.

• As always, you'll also find inspiring photographs from our community, showcasing the many different ways photographers interpret the world around them.

This issue is a celebration of curiosity, creativity, and exploration. Whether you enjoy photographing tiny details, vast landscapes, abstract forms, or the atmosphere of a city after sunset, we hope these stories and photographs inspire you to pick up your camera, head outdoors, and discover something you might otherwise have walked past.

Happy reading and photographing!
