Our latest issue of Captivating Photography Journal is here, and this one is a special one!
Issue 18 marks three years of publishing, sharing, and exploring what makes a photograph truly captivating. Over that time, we have brought together hundreds of interviews and carefully curated articles, alongside countless photographs from our community, young photographers, competitions, and more. This milestone would not have been possible without our readers and contributors, a community of passionate photographers who continue to shape what this journal is today.
To celebrate, this issue features a special section of some of our favourite quotes from the past three years. Words that stayed with us. Ideas that continue to shape how we think about photography. Each quote is paired with an image and its original issue number, so you can revisit the full story behind it.

What’s inside:
• Peter Laurenson takes us into the rugged terrain of Mt Alexander, leaving no doubt it is worth sweating for. A journey shaped by effort, patience, and the reward of seeing landscapes that few reach.
• Tara Swan shares an expert perspective on photographing New Zealand’s geckos, exploring both the creative and ethical sides of wildlife photography, and how images can play a role in conservation.
• A curated selection of powerful quotes from the past 18 issues, paired with photographs that bring those ideas to life.
• Highlights from our weekly challenges, showing how one theme can unfold in many different ways, shaped by perception, attention, and personal experience.
This issue is a reminder of how differently we all see. The same subject, the same moment, the same theme can lead to completely different images. And that is where photography becomes most interesting.
Plenty here to inspire you to pick up your camera, look a little closer, and perhaps see something you have not noticed before.
Happy reading and photographing!
